Why we took a private boat to Sunset Beach
After our days at Saracen Bay we wanted to go to the west side of the island, to Sunset Beach and Robinson Bungalows. There was no continuous, easily drivable road for this connection. So we took a small private motorboat with our luggage.
The alternative would have been to ride part of the way on a kind of tractor with a trailer and then walk down to the beach. We knew that last section as a very steep, rocky path with uneven steps. With a day pack that can be a lovely hike – with heavy bags it quickly becomes hard work.
So choosing the boat was not a spontaneous luxury, but a very practical travel decision. And a ride along the coast is part of the experience on an island anyway.
