Cambodia
In February 2026 we were back on Koh Rong Sanloem – an island we had known since 2011. This time we wanted to experience two very different sides: first Saracen Bay, then the quiet of Sunset Beach.

Boat connections via Sihanoukville or, like us, from Koh Rong. Check the arrival pier in advance.
Via Saracen Bay and the jungle path of about 35 minutes; private boats only by arrangement and in suitable weather.
A light backpack rather than a wheeled suitcase. For the crossing, plan shoes, drinking water and daylight.
Pack cash, mosquito repellent, sun protection and ideally a power bank.
The drier season is typically roughly between November and April; check sea conditions and connections for the season.
Our photos show late February 2026. Opening hours, paths and prices may change.
How Koh Rong Sanloem has changed
We already knew the island from 2011. When we came back in 2026 a lot was different – new paths, new encounters and still wonderful bays.
